Cozy Oaks cottage on Buckhorn Lake in the Kawarthas, is less than 2 hours from Toronto or just over 3 hours from Ottawa, enjoy a relaxing vacation at this lovely, clean and well cared for cottage on the Trent Severn Waterway near lock 31.
The kitchen and dining area opens up into the living room making for an easy and comfortable family gathering for food, fun and games. This area has an adjoining 3 season screened in porch that overlooks the lake. On the side deck you will find the BBQ, patio furniture and closer to the lake there is a fire pit.
The main living room has comfortable seating to watch your favourite show, or play one of the many games. There are three bedrooms and a full bathroom.
The screen porch is the Pièce de résistance ! Early morning watching the water birds on the lake, in the evening watching the sun go down.
The lot is flat and grassy leading to a sandy portion on the shore where you can wade into the water. The shore is shallow and becomes soft as you walk out. Trees bordering both sides of the property provide privacy. There is a swim raft that the neighbours share where there the water is 30' deep with no weeds. This is also an ideal spot to bring your own fishing boat and enjoy catching Bass, Pickerel and Pike. Catch one right off the dock.
The nearby town of Buckhorn has all of the amenities for cottage living. Petroglyphs Provincial Park is just a 40 minute drive away. See aboriginal rock carvings over 600 years old, hike to High Falls (13km) or enjoy the walking trails. Smithworks Brewing Company is a 25 minute drive away in Peterborough. Quarry Golf Club is a 20 minute drive away near Lakefield. Kawartha Country Wines (Winery) is a 15 minute drive away. Gallery-on-the Lake and the Buckhorn School of Fine Art are in the village of Buckhorn which is 10 minutes away. Arts and Crafts shops and Antique shops are in many of the nearby villages. The new Canadian Canoe Museum, the Peterborough Liftlocks and the Trent-Severn Waterway Museum, Art Galleries, and more, are in Peterborough, just 35 minutes away.

You will need to bring proper size life jackets for everyone participating in water activities.

Guest Comments: Excellent fishing!!! Caught a large muskie! Need to set-up a deal with the neighbour 5 cottages down with a private boat launch to avoid the trip into Buckhorn. Cottage was beautifully decorated and well stocked.
