Our History:

Cottage Care Rentals & Property Management was established in 2013, to respond to an increasing demand for added value Cottage Rentals Services.

Over the years, we have seen a growing number of cottage Owners requiring property management services while looking to off-set cottage expenses by sharing their cottage with caring Guests. We align the Owners desire to enjoy their cottage asset with Guests desire to enjoy cottage life.

We provide services for our Owners and Guests beyond that of traditional rental agencies. Further, we provide added value services for the Guests who come here to enjoy Cottage Vacations in the Haliburton, Muskoka, Kawartha and Algonquin regions of Ontario, Canada.  Cottage Care Rentals is a certified Travel Agency duly registered with TICO reg #50021188. 


Our Commitment to the Environment:

Cottage Care Rentals is constantly striving towards being more environmentally friendly and practicing sustainability in everything we do.

Our commitment to environmental sustainability:

  • We aim to supply all natural, non-toxic cleaning agents, laundry detergent, and supplies to our Caretakers & Owners.
  • We aim to reduce waste – discouraging the use of single-use plastics and suggesting alternatives, friendly reminders that cottage water is safe to drive (where applicable) and providing every guest with recycling protocols and a landfill kit for responsible garbage disposal.
  • All of our properties are non-smoking.
  • Following guest departure, we inspect each cottage to ensure all lights and electronics are turned off.
  • Providing literature on how to be more sustainable at the cottage, how to naturalize shorelines, are more through our blog and social media channels.
  • The CCR team is further dedicated to a healthy community and environment through their roles in environmentally charged volunteer organizations, local eating practises, low-waste lifestyles, and #buycloseby commitments.


Meet the Team:

Don, founder of Cottage Care Rentals, retired from a successful career as an Information Technology Executive before moving to the Haliburton Highlands. He and his wife, who is a successful independent Graphics Artist, located to this pristine region of Ontario in 2009.

They established Cottage Care Rentals in February of 2013 with one cottage and a business plan to grow and offer services over and above those of a traditional rental agency. Don has and continues to work on local economic development boards of directors and committees.



Guiding, mentoring and contributing to the growth and diversification of Cottage Care Rentals, is Cheryl’s passion, bringing decades of experience in marketing, business development and new media.

The Highlands holds a special place in her life, from growing up cottaging and eventually living on an island on Little Redstone Lake, to now homesteading in the forest close the village of Haliburton, with her husband, dogs and chickens.  



With a passion for environmental conservation, Stephanie is the driving force behind our commitment to healthy lakes and their surrounding ecosystems.

Having travelled extensively in her 20’s, Stephanie came home to Minden with a drive to live more sustainably and become more involved within the local community. Stephanie volunteers as the Chair of a not-for-profit charity, Friends of Ecological and Environmental Learning (FEEL), that supports the natural environment and fundraises for their annual Haliburton-Muskoka-Kawartha Children’s Water Festival.

Stephanie plays a diverse role within the business; Owner and Guest relations, in-person cottage assessment, cottage photography, cottage organization and cleaning, “Team CCR” Blog contributor, and social media contributor. Having started her own cleaning company in 2019, using only non-toxic cleaning supplies and a low-waste mindset, Stephanie now manages the care-taking teams within Cottage Care Rentals.

Daughter of Cheryl and partner to Daniel, Stephanie is proud to be carrying Cottage Care Rentals and Property Management toward a positive future.



Born and raised in Haliburton County. Daniel grew up living on an operational hobby farm near Mountain Lake, and now, after travel and schooling, resides at the same family farm with life and business partner, Stephanie. With a passion for sustainability, Daniel spends his spare time focusing his energy growing organic produce for the household, foraging off the land and producing maple syrup.

Daniel is an Architectural and Building Technologist with extensive experience in the building construction industry. As an experienced Timber Framer, Daniel builds and designs custom log and timber features and enhancements, from live edge woodworking to lakeside timber frame gazebos.

This combination has given Daniel an exceptional and unique technical aptitude, making him the perfect candidate to head up the Property Maintenance Division within Cottage Care Rentals Inc. Among the rest, Daniel is heavily involved with Owner and Guest relations, in-person cottage assessment, cottage photography & drone work.
